General Calder
“A shorter meeting would count as progress.”
Calder listens to an elaborate explanation until the useful part becomes clear, then asks the question everyone was avoiding. The plain jacket and steady gaze suggest little appetite for ceremony. Competence matters; making competence unnecessarily difficult is a persistent source of irritation. Calder can acknowledge a problem without decorating it and appreciate a good result without organizing a parade. The dry remarks usually contain sensible advice and a modest request that everyone stop producing additional work.
