General Brann
“I’m ready for my victory speech. The victory can hurry up.”
Brann arrives at a briefing with a lifted chin, unruly hair and the opening sentence of a magnificent announcement. Confidence is plentiful; waiting for the evidence is the difficult part. A setback becomes a misunderstanding, then a warm-up, then a reason everyone should watch more closely. The bravado has a vulnerable heart: Brann wants to earn the applause already being imagined, and a rival's good idea occasionally earns an honest compliment before pride can retrieve it.
